The Greater Reading Convention & Visitors Bureau offers eighteen marketing opportunities. These initiatives give you a chance to reach millions of prospective customers in the leisure and group markets. Advertising is exclusive to bureau members and corporate sponsors.

Girlfriends Getaway Brochure & Coupons
This promotion targets the fastest growing segment of travelers. It’s the original getaway for women who need time away with "just the girls" to shop, play and unwind. The brochure features lodging and spa packages. This promotion also offers an opportunity to participate with a coupon that offers a special discount.

GRCVB Coupon Sheet
The GRCVB coupon sheet will be available to ALL visitors who are traveling to or thinking about traveling to Greater Reading June through December.  The coupon sheet is available to be printed at home through the GRCVB website and 25,000 are produced to be placed in mailings, participating hotels and GRCVB information centers.

Greater Reading Visitors Guide
The Visitors Guide is Berks County's official annual tourism marketing publication. This primary fulfillment piece is a full-color magazine that includes important information on accommodations, arts and entertainment, attractions, dining, shopping, transportation, area colleges and universities, recreation, services, transportation and relocation. It also features dynamic photos, ads, coupons, and a large pull-out map with a calendar of events. It’s the most comprehensive guide for Berks County and the best vehicle to get your message to more than 300,000 individuals.

Group Tour Planner
This is Berks County's primary marketing publication to professional tour operators, travel agents and motor coach industry. This full color magazine features five themed day-long itineraries, county map with participants' locations, and detailed amenities chart of participating member facilities. Group Tour Planners are mailed to all group inquiries and also handed out during one on one appointments with Group Tour Operators at trade shows, i.e. National Tour Association (NTA), American Bus Association (ABA), Pennsylvania Bus Association (PBA), Virginia Motor Coach Association (VMA) and Heartland Showcase.

Meeting Planner
This planner is designed to drive small and mid-size meetings and conventions to Berks County. Participants receive year-round media exposure. Our lodging members benefit from increased room nights as well as additional meeting room and restaurant business. Meeting Planners are distributed during one on one appointments with Meeting Planners at trade shows: PA3 Trade Show, Society of Government Meeting Professionals (SGMP), New York Society of Association Executives (NYSAE), Destinations Showcase in Washington, DC.

Additional Marketing Opportunities

Berks Community Television (BCTV)
Bi-monthly one-half hour program entitled "Tourism Works For Greater Reading" that airs live at 7:30 pm the first Monday of February, April, June, August, October and December, and replays 3 additional times during that same month. Businesses and organizations are featured to promote events and attractions.

Direct Mail of Member Brochures
Insertion of your brochure in bureau mailings in response to visitor inquiries. Your brochure will go to qualified leads - people who request visitor information. Opportunity to piggyback with the bureau for less money than mailing on your own. You can select your participation by month or by target area. We average 100,000 mailings per year. This promotion is on-going year round and is billed (21¢ per brochure) monthly on the actual number mailed.

Guaranteed Brochure Distribution – GRCVB Brochure Racks
The GRCVB maintains custom designed, brochure displays at 7 high-traffic locations in Berks County. The brochure racks provide exposure to hundreds of thousands of visitors annually. Controlled distribution and maintenance every two weeks. Participation available at $100 per quarter or $325 per year. Rack locations include:
  • Greater Reading Expo Center
  • Hawk Mountain Sanctuary
  • Ozzy’s Sports Fun Center
  • The Pagoda
  • Renningers Antique & Farmers Markets (Kutztown)
  • The Shoppes of Green Valley
  • VF Outlet Center
Guaranteed Brochure Distribution - Schuylkill River Heritage Brochure Racks
In recognition of the significance of the Schuylkill River Region and its place in American History, it has been designated as the Schuylkill River National and State Heritage Area. Currently there are only 23 other such areas in the country. As part of the project, 25 informational centers will be located along the corridor. Two of these opened in Berks County at the Reading Area Community College library in Reading and Cabela’s, World’s Foremost Outfitter, in Hamburg. The centers include a kiosk, wall map, video and brochures detailing the cultural, historical, recreational and economical highlights of the heritage area. The GRCVB offers its members the opportunity to participate with brochure distribution at these two locations. The cost is $50 per quarter. If you participate in the GRCVB Guaranteed Brochure Distribution Rack Program, your brochures can be distributed in these rack displays for $35 per quarter.

Message On Hold
You can advertise on the Bureau’s very active phone lines with your professionally recorded message which cycles every 3 minutes during the hold mode on the Bureau’s 6 telephone lines. The bureau handles an average of 1,000+ calls per month from inquiring visitors, local callers and business people.

National Tourism Month Campaign
The bureau's tourism campaign in local media raises awareness of the economic value of tourism and builds identity for the bureau. It provides a unique opportunity for local citizens to learn the economic value and importance of tourism.

Reading Phillies Night
The bureau annually sponsors "GRCVB Night at the Reading Phillies” with an offer of ten sponsorships available to bureau members. Each sponsor receives four picnic area game tickets (which includes reserved seating and a two hour catered buffet), 500 general admission tickets for distribution to clients, customers, employees, family members and friends. In addition, each sponsor has an opportunity to participate in the First Pitch prior to the start of the game.

Sports Marketing Sponsorships
The Sports Commission of the Visitors Bureau is actively engaged in attracting regional and national sports tournaments and events to Berks County venues. With the Sovereign Center, Body Zone, five universities, and a multitude of both indoor and outdoor athletic facilities, Greater Reading has a lot to offer sporting event planners.

Website
The GRCVB websites, www.readingberkspa.com, takearide.com, showcases Greater Reading as a great destination and promotes your property and events to an average of 15,000 visitors per month. Membership includes your business listing on the bureau website and provides a link to your property’s website.
